Artist Statement
Rooted in my Nepalese heritage, a deep appreciation for culture, identity, and tradition shapes my artistic journey. Growing up in a family that promoted local artists and handicrafts, I developed a profound connection to visual storytelling. My transition to graduate studies at the University of South Dakota broadened my perspective, allowing me to merge my cultural roots with contemporary influences—an approach reflected in my MFA thesis celebrating cultural heritage and understanding. Through meticulous research and digital imagery, I translate personal experiences into visual narratives that honor tradition, capture everyday life, and foster cross-cultural connections. My work bridges past and present, inspiring curiosity, appreciation, and dialogue on cultural preservation and diversity.
Teaching Statement
As a teaching assistant and instructor at the University of South Dakota, I have fostered an inclusive and engaging learning environment. My teaching philosophy emphasizes personalized mentorship, collaborative learning, and open communication. By integrating practical exercises and tailored feedback, I empower students to develop their creativity, critical thinking, and technical skills, preparing them for success beyond the classroom.
